This policy describes what data the Flightrion app for Android collects, why, and how you can manage it.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is the developer of the Flightrion app. Contact for all data matters: flightrion@proton.me.
2. What data we collect
| Data | Source | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Email address, name and Google account ID | Google sign-in | creating the account and linking your data to it |
| Nickname, callsign, country (flag), optional pet name | you enter it | pilot profile, ranking, jobs from your country |
| Points, rank, tasks, visited airports, statistics, private pilot ID | calculated by the app | pilot career system |
| Flight data: position, altitude, speed, heading and vertical speed of the in-game aircraft, flight time, route, landing and approach rating, maneuvers | the Aerofly FS Global game over a local connection on the phone | flight log, route on the map, rating, points |
| Flight plan: departure, destination and alternate airport, aircraft, load, description, route, VFR/IFR rules | you enter it | flight log, ATC communication, history |
| Current position of the in-game aircraft during a flight (with nickname, callsign, country, rank, aircraft, route and transponder code) | the game, during a started flight | live map – other pilots see your aircraft; you can turn this off in settings |
| Reports of unusual flight events (e.g. position jump, impossible speed, very high points) with nickname and callsign | detected by the app | a fair ranking (cheat detection) |
| App crash reports: error description, phone model, Android and app version, account ID | automatically when the app closes due to an error | fixing bugs |
We do not collect your phone's location (GPS). All positions in the app are positions of the aircraft in the game. No ads, no tracking in other apps, no selling of data.
3. Where the data is stored
- On the phone: account, flights and settings are stored in the app's storage. They are removed when you uninstall the app.
- In the cloud (only when signed in) in Google Firebase services: account, profile and flights – Cloud Firestore in the Warsaw data center (europe-central2); position during a flight – Realtime Database in Belgium (europe-west1), deleted right after the flight; crash reports – Firebase Crashlytics.
Other signed-in users can see your pilot profile (nickname, callsign, country, rank, points, statistics, pet name) and recent flights – for example in the ranking – and, during a flight, your aircraft on the live map. Your email address, private pilot ID and full flight tracks are not shown to other users.
4. Who we share data with
- Google (Firebase: sign-in, databases, crash reports; Google Play) – as our service provider. Privacy in Firebase.
- GitHub (GitHub Pages) – the app downloads ready-made airport data (taxiways, stands) from here. The server only receives the name of the downloaded file and – like any server on the internet – your IP address.
- Overpass API / OpenStreetMap – when the airport data isn't on GitHub, the app downloads it from here. The server only receives the map area and your IP address.
We do not send any account data to GitHub or Overpass. We do not share data with anyone else unless the law requires it.
5. How long we keep data
- Account, profile and flights – until you delete the account.
- Live map position – only during a flight.
- Unusual-event reports – until reviewed, at most 12 months.
- Crash reports – up to 90 days.
6. Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to rectify it, to erase it, to restrict processing, to data portability and to object. Write to flightrion@proton.me. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority – in Poland the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (uodo.gov.pl) – or in your country.
You can delete your account and data yourself in the app: Account → Delete account. Details and the way without the app: Account deletion. You can turn off live map visibility in the app settings.
7. Legal basis
Account, profile, flights and live map – performance of the service you request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Crash reports and unusual-event reports – our legitimate interest: a working app and a fair ranking (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
8. Children
The app is not intended for children under 16. If we learn that a child created an account without a parent's consent, we will delete it.
9. Security
Connections to the cloud are encrypted. Database rules allow only the owner to change and delete account data, and only the administrator can read unusual-event reports.
10. Changes
We will inform you in the app about important changes to this policy. The current version is always on this page.
